The White Walls Alpha has officially come to an end. Months of hard work and collaborative effort is finally paying off as we enter our next chapter together.
The White Walls Alpha has officially come to an end. Months of hard work and collaborative effort is finally paying off as we enter our next chapter together.
We want to take a minute to look back on the journey we’ve been on so far. Let’s reminisce a moment before we jump into Beta and the whole game changes.
It has now been over a year that the team has been focused on White Walls. At first it was just a loose, fun side project we worked on in between client work. We were passionate about the mission and knew we were onto something, but we always said that we wouldn’t enter startup mode and truly focus on building something unless we had the right team to actually make it happen.
In late January of this year, the White Walls team formed rather rapidly and the pieces fell into place smoother than we could have ever imagined, and our transition began. It forced us out of our comfort zone and into official building mode in the blink of an eye and we were off to the races.
We developed quietly for a short time, but that has never really been our style. We have always been firm believers that transparency is the best policy and working on a collaborative goal is a lot more efficient than holding your cards close to the chest. So, Alpha Passes were created for two primary reasons:
1. To consciously gather feedback and utilize it to make meaningful changes that would impact future app releases, thus furthering our code of transparency and our intentions to build with the community.
2. To build an element to encourage early users to share content as we built in the background.
While the Alpha was originally intended to be only 100 passes, we realized pretty quickly that the demand for access was outweighing the supply we had initially set. Luckily all things are iterative, so we expanded to:
In total we distributed 350 Passes and activated ~150 of those holders into true testers.
Overall, the Alpha process was a whirlwind 3 months. We are forming a passionate community and starting to spread our message in a transparent and proactive way. We received a great deal of feedback through alpha and much of the feedback ended up shaping the features that you’ll see in our Beta release and larger roadmap. From small design changes to bug squashing, each bit of input has helped us re-orient our strategies and priorities. Looking back, we wouldn’t have done it any other way and we aim to continue keeping this level of transparency at the forefront of all we do moving forward.
As we prepare to roll out the public Beta we’ve realized that we’re getting closer and closer to achieving a vision we laid out long ago. For a while it seemed like a pipe dream that we could be a platform that INSPIRED change and impacted the art market in a positive way. While we haven’t made it there quite yet, early signs are that the community is ready for something new. Our passion is fired up and we’re ready to show everybody who we are and what we can do.
As we look forward to Beta, we have a lot of ideas, features, and concepts in the pipeline. The roadmap is long and jam packed with exciting things that we can’t wait to share with you.
A few things on the list that you can get excited for:
At the end of the day, we hope that our transparent mentality through Alpha will be even more prominent as we cruise through Beta. With a growing community and user base we are sure that we’ll receive even more incredible ideas and feedback along the way.
Now, all that being said— this week is a truly exciting one. We will officially open the flood gates and allow all interested users to experience White Walls with no tokengating or barriers of entry [aside from needing an Apple TV].
The team is excited, proud, anxious, ecstatic, and a whole host of other feelings that are tough to articulate. One thing is for sure, though… This is just the beginning of the White Walls story.
Thank you for following along and rolling with us as we prepare for Beta release. We sincerely hope you enjoy what comes next.
From all of us at White Walls…
We’ll see you in Beta 🤍
